Hey guys......still not getting notifications.......
Bret, sorry to hear that news......it's hard at this time of year.......keep Karen and Andy close....
JP, wow, what a difference to try and deal with......real impetus to see why JP spends the time he does eh? The one irony that I had a very hard time to understand when my girls were growing up was the fact that when they were being the little beotches that they could sometimes be and all I wanted to do was lock them in a room for their reprehensible behaviour, was ironically enough when I just needed to put all my work, personal and selfish $hit down and go spend some time......nothing more than time....with THEM. The talk, sharing of experiences, fears, dreams and day to day drudgery was all they wanted. (and it turned out, needed) They did not want 'stuff' of any type, just my time and this is what a lot of this generation is lost in.......their parents selfishness. That's the very main reason it really brings me to the level of appreciation I have when JP and Bret share of the time and escapades they share with their boys......TIME......is so precious......NOT STUFF.
JP....NO one is more qualified (albeit it a drain on your time) than you to 'be that guy to look up to'........ We have a saying where I go at times..... Attraction by example, rather than promotion........"The quality you deserve is not expensive---it's priceless"

well said ! mourning Bret & everyone. Hope today is good to all ...sad day here I have to put one of our Great Danes down...he's got cancer ( bleeding ulsur (sp) . And to remove them was going to cost at least 10 grand. I love them but I don't even have the money for my own mammogram every year. So a friend is coming to the farm to put him down for us . I can't shoot him. He was a joy to have but life goes on and I'll never own another dog. I'll have Grand dogs here soon and I'll let my grandsons raise them..tough day but we still have one other Great Dane & he will not be here much longer for he has the same cancer ..

'Morning Bret and everyone. Great to hear about Matt. JP you have a ton of respect from me for dealing with the "kid".. He should know better, doesn't, but you're still taking care of your own and there's a good chance that he will get it.

And this reveals also the balance beam that I'm trying to walk.
I suspect that, if I start running TO him every time that he calls, he will try to take ALL of my time because that is what he's been raised to expect. People dropping and running TO him.
He must, of course, learn to be self-reliant as all men must. Well, self-reliant in that we learn to lean on ourselves and our chosen life-partner.

JP,
You know it buddy.....
But here's another dilemma.....just like you 'expect' a journeyman to be able to change out a compressor with removal, replace, leak test, evac to 500mics, charge, commission, monitor temps/press/suc/dis/SH/SC/amps/volts.....and this guy SHOULD have his 'journeyman papers for life by 21'......JP you are assuming he was raised like your boys are being properly raised with all the physical, emotional, academic, family and other parent to child 'tools' put in his toolbox and on his training resume......but he's likely NEVER learned from the likes of the source that you and Bret have......and that is why we can't 'smack' our apprentices......they ain't dumb.....only not learned yet......
which is all easy for me to say from my perspective......but even so.....he's lucky to have you in his life JP......you'll know what the right thing to do is......even if you have to drift him between the %#!^ing eyes to get his undivided attention first....."The quality you deserve is not expensive---it's priceless"

Now, riddle me this one, guys.
I've described a part of this guy's life. In truth, though, he lived with my parents for 12-15 of his 21 years.
Now, how is it that my parents raised, essentially, 4 kids (my sister and I and him and his younger brother) and I'm the only one who turned out worth a fiddler's fart?
