It; a great feeling being out in the garage with him. My Dad and I spent tons of hours working together in I hope to be 1/2 father he was.
Oh Bret, I don't think you'll be half buddy. I know of no one that spends the time and energy that you do with your son. Try 1.5X but you obviously had a good teacher.

    Nice stuff.

Once I get the basement finished, I'm going to work on cleaning out the garage and setting up a slightly larger woodshop.

I've been looking at a lathe, too.

Those Micro-Lathes for metal are sure nice....very, very precision too......A guy might be able to make 'gun' parts too....

THAT could be a frightening thing....

I'm already equipped to manufacture ammunition, if I were equipped to manufacture the firearms as well.......

I'd love a Metal Lathe but even low ones on CL is more then I dare spend.

    I watch craigslist, too.

I've just got a HUGE mess here to clean up.

I mentioned here before that we're tying into municipal sewage.

Well, that's done. Pipes tied in, basement floor cut, new lines run and roughed in for a bathroom in the basement. I paid for that work to be done. It was just easier.

Now, to save a few bucks, we hauled all of the concrete out (and filled a dumpster with other crap that's been laying around) mixed and poured 24 - 80# bags of concrete in the basement.

Now, I've got to finish cleaning the loose paint off of the walls and floor, prime and seal them, frame out, wire, plumb and finish a bathroom in the basement. We're also adding a walk-in closet for food storage because it will be better organized than what we currently have.

After that, I want to build a rec room for the boys down there so that they've got a place to hang with their buddies and, once they're grown up and moved on, it turns into Dad's Cave.

Once THAT is finished, then I'm planning to insulate the garage. That's going to be a MAJOR undertaking because the walls are already festooned with all of my junk.

Sometime during all of that, Momma wants a new kitchen floor, paint in most of the upstairs rooms, a new tile backsplash in the kitchen, a new roof....
