Morning all. Well one month out of any re-hab facility or hospital, thank God.
Living in a Veterans home while awaiting acceptance in Sr. Living.
That no good lousy CANCER seems to be in check. Still slow walking as I am going to Physical Therapy to build up strength since being laid up for 33 1/2 months.

Under Windows XP (the last version of Windows I was REALLY familiar with before switching to Linux back in '08 - lappy came with Vista), I'm pretty sure you could get to the hardware drivers management utility by right clicking on My Computer, maybe going to Properties. I can't imagine that changing, but I could be wrong. The typical procedure for that sort of thing was just to wipe the OS and install whatever drivers they gave us CD's for (yeah, CD's it's been THAT long lol).
@icehouse: Glad you're up and about. Keep at the therapy and listen to the doc. Seen too many people go back in because they didn't listen to the professional's advice.

Bret, I'm sure are making the most of the incredible gift you have been given. Karen and Andy are also blessed to have you!
I use the Avira free antivirus, and an assortment of other tools such as Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Registry Mechanic, and Spybot S&D.
You can also go the Major Geeks site and get familiar with what others are doing to keep their machines up and running.

One note on servicing your lappy. It's not as bad as it looks. You just have to use precision tools like the T6 and smaller philips, might need a bit more finger dexterity but you can swap out the parts easily, not that it's needed in this case, but good for future reference.

First year exams are so funny. They test you on so much only to dump you out there to lug and mule. First year exams should look like this:
1.The tool commonly known as The Skyhook is used for what purpose:
A) To lift items towards the sky
B) To entertain your journeyman
C) To turn a Skyjack scissor lift into a mobile crane with a 500lb lifting capacity over a 20' reach
D) A and C
2. A XL Double Double with milk has what added to the coffee base?
A) 2 cream and 1 sugar
B) 2 cream and 2 sugar
C) 2 milk and 1 sugar
D) 2 milk and 2 sugar
3. You used a job site porta potty and somehow are now locked in. Who do you blame?
A) The electricians
B) The plumbers
C) The sheet metal mechanics
D) Your journeyman
E) All of the above!
Get money, get paid.
