    Kind of a low turnout.

I'm starting to get a little frustrated with the parents. I've been the Cubmaster for 5 years, now, and I get next to NO HELP from the parents.

Last week, I dropped the bomb on them that I am planning on stepping back a little from my position and that I need a parent (or two or three) to step up and take on some responsibility. That resulted in a phone call from the council office asking why I was stepping down.

The program is awesome, Bret. Some of my fondest memories are from scout camps as a boy, and I know that my kids are building some of the same great memories.

My dad worked your position, JP, for a year. He said at the end of that year that he had "put in his time."

    Good morning, Bret and everyone.

I think you'll find that's systemic with the world.....although we all know the gift is in the giving......we are fast becoming a society of 'withdrawers' rather than 'depositors' thus the social bank is fast becoming bankrupt....
Everybody wants to eat the pie but very, very few want to help make it....
JP, I think you'll find that some of the best memories when you get to my age are when you were with your boys in Scouts too......you'll treasure and remember them with tremendous warmth.....can't buy or cash anything to equal that feeling........'cause YOU had the biggest part in it...and what your sons have aspired to because of your being with 'em.....

Doug and Bret nailed the reason that I've stuck it out as long as I have.

I love my boys and, since scouting is what they want to do, this is what we do.

They enjoy it, I enjoy watching them

    We both win.
