I thought I would share Julie's last post on this site with you, made one year ago, this coming Sunday.

She was doing really well up until around Thanksgiving, and as I look back, there was a progressive loss of energy and appetite from that point forward. In December, we found on a new PET that the original colon tumor was gone, but new areas lit up on her lungs and liver. I think it was the liver that spelled the end, but because there is no autopsy, I will never know specifically what caused her to leave on such short notice.

Morning Art,.......How's the heart holding out this morning?
You do a lot of charity work.......the weekends could be very hard on you........ maybe you have already thought of this but the lonely time could be 'distracted' by your involvement in helping others......just a thought to try and alleviate the pain Art.....

We serve a monthly special homeless dinner in my town, and we also have regular mission trips, usually to central and south American countries where we have missionaries with building-related needs. Since I just reached the five year mark at my current company, I now have three weeks of vacation, so this will make those trips a real possibility.

My pastor has provided me with some Bible-based references on grief, and those are certainly a help. As I confessed to him a couple of days ago, I am happy for Julie in that her suffering has ended, and she is at peace now. My problem is a selfish one, in that I can talk to her till I am blue in the face, but I can't hear her voice. That's the worst part for me. We logged over two hours of talking every day, as I drove from site to site, along with get up in the morning, and sleep well at night. The fact is that I had become a "Julie addict," and now my supply has been curt off. It's like Lennon screaming in that song, "Cold Turkey."

That said, I was better this morning. I'm keeping myself busy around the house. On most Saturdays, I have an online electrical licensing seminar, but the teacher's cable drop came loose from his utility pole, and the cable Co won't be out until Wednesday to fix it.

From a Cancer Survivor View it's not selfish It say I miss you, you we're a big part of my life and you left a hole time will heal the pain but the hole can only be filled with memories of you. say something special about Julie. No she would not want you to hurt.

    Just my thoughts /view.
