A good friend had one of those before I got one.

We did an AM radio kit, and it said to connect the antenna to "building ground".

Well, a certain 11 year old boy didn't know WTH 'ground' was. We touched it to various pieces of metal with no results. Ultimately, we decided that ground was something in an outlet.

We didn't know which one was ground, though.....

Did you know that if you hook up the antenna of an AM radio to 115v potential, it lets the magic smoke out!

    I am no dummy.....

By the time I got mine, I was using old extension cords that I'd cut and stripped to copper plate GI Joes by arcing the wires together.

The chemistry set was a HUGE mistake....

Now, as a grownup, I marvel that the walkie talkies of WWII and Korea were vacuum tube technology. High power consumption and they were fragile. Shoot, plastic toys didn't exist during my childhood. Sputnik shocked the USA in 1958 and man walked on the moon 42 years ago. That was pure science fiction in my youth.

Hi Bret. Also no transplant surguries or cancer treatments. Wonder what the next 50 years of technology will will bring?

    Good Morning, Bret.
After my last post, I heard that Yogi Berra had a fall at 85. I remembered what he said, "The furture ain't what it used to be." He had a way with words.
