plant supplies chilled water (chw) 24/7/365 for space conditioning. entire building load is cooled by plant including server rooms. system is a 3 pressure r-22 liquid overfeed system with a guesstimated charge of 175,000# of r22. primary cooling is provided by spinning up to (4) 500 hp screws to freeze water, 800,000# of ice. heat transfer of 'ice' to secondary chw thru plate frame exchangers. the colder it is, the longer the ice lasts. 3 days max.
as the ambient increases, ice is made nitely. as temp increases and building needs comfort cooling (it's a huge glass box), (2) 700 ton centrifugals cooling the primary chw loop to precool the building secondary thru plate frames chw before sec. chw. 'hits' the ice plate frames. usually supply 42 or lower chw to bldg
when needs dictate, when the above isn't enough, all of the above is kept on line AND (thru valving) the 22 system is put into a giant 'dx' system.
main air handlers (7) are 140,000 cfm w/ 400 hp s/a and 200 hp r/a motors. the s/a motors are double shafted, all with pneumatic controlled vanes.
heating is provided with (5) 300 HP water tube HW boilers, suppling the bldg. with 3 different temp. zones. heat can also be provided with hot reefer gas.
bldg. is pneumatically controlled, (6) 40 hp quincy recips.
