    I had to put a new service in as the old 150A would not handle the two H/P and B/U heat when I moved in 20 years ago. I used the old 150A SqD as a priority panel basically, then run a new 200A panel in the old panels spot with a 8 circuit/150a subfeed!!!. (Triplex O/H, the mast/conduit drop and old panel busses were good for 200A...it was a dumb hybrid panel of SqD for a few years). I then bought a 8KW and put in a backfeed to the 150A...shut off the main into it and feed my 'priorities out of it'...
    I use the 5000 watt Honda and 8000 watt for the 3Hp flush cart on site as 115VAC won't hold....so I just put stabilizer in the fuel....gas....and it's portable and a 'write off'....

    I would like to install one here that will support the entire house!

    Ofcourse internet and cable tv are priorities!!!!!!!!!

    does not look like something I will be doing soon!

    Just got power on.....yahoo....piss AND be able to flush the toilet....!!!

    Gensets are under $900....get a 16 circuit panel and make a 4/4 SO cord with 4 pin ml twistlock each end (female receptacles in the genny and the wall socket) and your done like dinner for under $1000....

    I have a old Portable 5Kw 115/220 I throw the main and temp tag in if need.
