    There is always hope.

I recall a young woman who knew a friend of mine in the early 1970's. She had a battle with bone cancer. She went through a leg amputation and a lot of attempts to treat her, before she died at 17. This past week, I was driving along route 3 outside of Philly, and recognized the funeral home where my friends and I had gone to show our love and support for her family.

Today, the cancer that took Kathy is 90% curable. Just a little over 40 years of research and medical trials have made for great strides.

The best news is that medicine does not move forward arithmetically, with 10 years of research "then" being equivalent to 10 years of research "today." In fact, most of the real advancements of that 40 year period are all "scrunched" into the last 10 years. A lot of this has to do with data processing and computer based modelling, and some has to do with the ready access to knowledge of the genome that computers have helped to make possible.

This explains why Bret has a much better chance of beating this in 2015 than he would have in 2005. By 2025, we might stop this cancer problem entirely. What a blessing that will be.

    Good morning, Bret and everyone!

It's 28° F here now, going to 15° F by this afternoon. You would think a guy that's 50% canuk would like cold weather.

I must have missed that gene.....

    Bret,
Nice family picture. Karen and Andy look good but who is the Ugly Mug in the middle lol.
Can't keep up with the thread but I continue to pray for all of you !
You are a huge encouragement to all of us, hang in there. Hope you can make it to CO this summer so I can buy you a cup of coffee/Tea/beer and shake your hand and say thanks for putting it all out here.

Oh, had to change my screen name for stupid reasons formally know as Ccikelly but don't tell anyone, Ok.

Thanks again for letting us be part of your life and fight. Keep up the good work !!!!!!!!

Hey, Fronk may show up again any time now.

How is my day ? Well......... after 20 years telling engineers why thing won't work they still tell us to do the same stuff but in differnt ways. For the controls sector I quote Forest Gump "Stupid is as Stupid does...over and over". Wait, I added something there didn't I ????????
If sense were so common everyone would have it !

Oh, I've had that, too. Several says with gusts to 30 and 40. That makes exposed flesh very uncomfortable in less than a minute.
