Always time for a beer with friends.

I'm on call or I'd hoist one with ya, symbolically...

For those who are following the saga of the mower...

Parts ordered, installed and mower is running like a champ.

Now, I've gotta figure out why the deck is lower than we think it should be. Really "scalping" the lawn.

It just never ends, does it?

To the bright side, this is summer camp week for the boys. Oldest's third year at summer camp and the youngest's first year at Boy Scout summer camp.

The oldest was elected to the Order of the Arrow and called out this year, earned the second level of the camp badges (they call them Oak Leaves) which is silver, and completed the last requirements to earn his Star rank.

Not 100% sure how the youngest one fared. I know he has completed a couple of merit badges and surely has advanced a rank and maybe two.

    Pick up tomorrow.

That reminds me of changing out a compress that is supposed to be OEM drop in replacement and after I put the condenser fan assembly back on I gave it a test spin with a screwdriver - just to be safe, and sure enough it would have wacked a chunk out the suction line.

I agree. I have learned not to trust even OEM parts, because they get changed or re-sourced along the way. It would be nice if they told us, though.

One my greatest triumphs was after I had put a screw through an elbow of a big roof top unit. I had split the coils to clean it. My lack of experience also didn't warn me how thin those elbows joints are. I hit it with a torch to patch it and the hole got bigger! The surgeon came out of me at that point and I actually got it patched up without clogging the joint or leaving a leak. My boss was out of a tank of r-22, but he didn't have to buy the guy a new unit.

I guess we all have a screw-through-the-coil story. I had one many years ago, as I was yakking with the other guy, and I failed to check the alignment. It was during the install of a brand new coil in a ground mounted condensing unit, where the fins had all been flattened by kids on bikes and skateboards hitting it. We hooked up the nitrogen to test it and we didn't need any equipment to tell us where the leak was. It was howling. He looked at me and said "this one's yours."

Good thing I had almost 20 years with torches and welders. I finessed the repair, but I sure felt stupid for making it necessary.

Ya know, I've done a LOT of stupid stuff.

    I don't think I've ever put a screw through a coil or a line.

I've fixed a couple, but I've never done it myself.

'Afternoon Bret and everyone. Had a busy weekend assisting the instructor with a safety/competition fundamentals course for IPSC with a 1hr each way commute 3 days in a row. Was a tiring experience but had a great group of new competitors, so it was a pleasure and a privilege. Back to the grind
