Lego is awesome. Teaches kids hand skills. I was playing with that stuff right up until about 12 myself haha!
I had a few models from the playsets. One of the better gifts I got was a couple of the "whatever" kits. I had one that had a carrying case and the lids were three big flat green pieces...perfect to use as a foundation. It also had the car chassis, windshields, and wheel sets so I could cars and ambulances. Then around 7 my mom got me a huge box that was kinda as big as a milk crate. Had about 1000 pieces. I built houses and everything.
