sorry bret
ofcourse there is nothing that us who have not been through what you and your extended family have been through and survived could understand or relate to.
while i am not a cancer survivor, i have a good friend that survived 162 treatments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you are here for a reason Bretttt! don't lose sight of that.
I am watcching the chiefs/colts and they all have pink for breast cancer awareness.
i was thinking of you and Sam right before i got on here.
there are alot of wonderrful people who have survived cancer and never had it
do not question your faith.
i just watched a documentry on the doctor back east who's wife and 2 daughters were brutally raped tied up beaten and burned to death.
I saw that and wondered why would God let that happen??????????
I do not have an answer but i have to believe that my Mom and Dad are in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess i can not blame only the good stuff on God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am rambling sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just for the record, God does not "cause" or "allow" people to have Cancer. It is our collective rejection of God that allowed sin and sickness into this world, and God is our ally against this suffering. Just recently, a woman in my church died after a long fight against Cancer. Previously to this trial, she had lost a young son back in the 1990's. Through it all, she was thankful for her opportunity to encourage others she knew, because she understood that this life in these weak bodies is just a moment in time compared to what God has in mind for us, the people who accept his free gift of salvation.
Is it a very sad thing when someone we know and love is lost to events like sickness, murder, or war? Sure it is. But God is our solid rock under our feet, and he is here to support us and give us strength until he returns to gather us to him.
In the first two verses of Revelation 21, we see:
1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
So, it is not a plan of God for any of us to suffer, but because our inheritance in this world has been one of sin, God has made a plan so that we don't have to live with that dynamic forever. For that alone, He deserves our praise.
While we are waiting, we should continue to work against sickness and strife, all the while taking the responsibility for our current state on ourselves, and accepting that the ultimate resolution is being given to us without charge, even though we do not deserve it.
That is a true gift.[Avatar photo from a Florida training accident. Everyone walked away.]

Maybe its because of my firsthand experience with evil in this world.
God did not "allow" Tina to be murdered. It was the result of evil.
God did not "create" evil. It is the result of the rejection of God's position as preeminent Creator, first by the insubordination of Lucifer, and then by Lucifer's leading Man astray in the garden. Basically, this is because both of God's created beings were made with Free Will, so that we are capable of either rejecting or accepting God as the ultimate power.
So, evil comes from beings with Free Will choosing to reject God.
Since we should struggle against evil we should fight against sickness and strife. That's part of showing God that we are beholden to Him, and that we are fighting on HIS side, and not the side of evil.
So, keep fighting if you are sick, or have been sick. It is a good fight, and worthy of God's creation. Because, "worthy is the Lamb."[Avatar photo from a Florida training accident. Everyone walked away.]
