OUR DEAR FRIEND HAS CANCER FCS

mourning Bret & all. It's going to be a rough day today here for me. Hubby is got something on his tongue that does not look right.He showed it to me yesterday afternoon. He'll see the nurse tomorrow and have a look at it. Long story short, I took all of his snuff away. I can't see why he even started that nasty stuff but what can I say, he is a big boy and I'm not his momma. I'm sure with all the new ways of technology this can be fixed and I hope to God I can stay strong

PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT"S UP TOMORROW. I started in college rub snuff on and off quit about 7 years ago.

It's not worth the risk from me to him QUIT it's rough quitting and rougher not starting again but beats the hell out of cancer.

I have said it many of times to quit that crap and even stop kissing him to show I disapproved of it but he's bigger than me ! Also he is on a nicotine lozenges AND he promised me he would never do it again. But looking at it this afternoon it seems to be having some pink to the sore but I'm no doctor & he'll see them tomorrow mourning. Thanks all for letting me rant and I'm still nervous as He(( but we'll get past this as if it is cancer this will make the 3rd time in his body

I did realize he was a 2 timer ( for cancer that is)

mourning Bret & all. Thanks for all of y'all's support. I'm scared but as if this is cancer we'll beat it I hope ! He is at the VA this mourning and I'll know more before noon what he wants to do. I say lets go see someone else but it is his choice and I have no say so. I can rant & rave all over about this and he knows I can get nasty but that is just not me. I support his choice it's just I kind of knew this could happen and I really told him a long time ago " Do you really need to dip snuff ?" Hope everyone else is having a Great day...stay safe out there !

Chick.......I hear you and understand your position completely.....
When Brenda had 3 1/2 lbs of tumors removed 3 years ago......I then pleaded with her to now go in and get at least an annual physical. That did not get heard......we had some further scares and I took my opposite tact of screaming/ranting/threatening and sat down and explained to her that after raising 3 unbelievable daughters and supporting me in LI and DC with the accounting, scheduling, office, etc I really really wanted to spend some time with her after all the former was done to enjoy our time/retirement together......y'know, the reason why we originally all did all this......OUR relationship that started all this? We could not do that if we both neglected ourselves in terms of our health and now that the girls are raised and on their own as independent young ladies......this/that is my greatest fear.
The relationship does not grow old....it grows deeper and deeper respect and fondness for the other......and this was what helped me understand my father and what a true relationship was all about between a husband and a wife. That all being said, I had virtually no success in getting Brenda to the doctor until our daughter, the nurse in Calgary, started talking (at my request) to 'Mom' and mentioning the reasons/medical background behind all of this......now she goes.....
Chick.....sometimes you just gotta push like he11 to get it to happen......you are an incredibly strong independent woman......have at 'er and no regrets for trying your all.

Keep us posted and I said a couple good words for you and hubby this morning whilst on my knees at the top of Cobble Hill....we're all here for you....

Bret this will be his 3rd time with this. The 1st as you know was when he had prostate cancer at 41. That was removed and at 44 it came back. With Radiation and cemo it has been in remission ever sense. He's 57 & soon to be 58.

afternoon Bret & all. Bret the VA has made an extreme appointment by next week to have a look at his tongue. He is soooo over snuff & I'll tell him you did it and are still with us ( thank God) today. Last night he was feeling not so happy and today I can tell he is not himself. I wish we could go back in years but as you know it's not happening. All I can do is be here and keep his feelings up and encourage him to do things to keep his mind off of this. He dipped a can a day for years and some days 2 cans. When & I mean WHEN this is over I'll call it his MSM too

A friend offered me a pinch years ago.

I stuck it in between my cheek and gum like he directed.

Then I said (muffled) "now what?"

He said "you wait until you have to spit."

I never made it to that point. I spit out the whole wad and found some water to wash out my mouth.

He laughed.

I said, "you do this all day?"

He said, "yep. (spit)"

That was my only attempt, and I am pretty glad I didn't like it.
