sorry to hear that.
Interesting your comment about quality of life. The relay for life survivor shirts say "Never to many birthday candles" and I sent a Email stating I understand what they Meant to say however they didn't think it through very well.
You've had a lot of hardship these last few years Robin and you seem to be fighting through it. thanks for sharing it help give the rest of us inspiration.

A little over 11 years ago as well I lost my Father.....didn't quite make the new millennium.......I'd pay almost anything to spend one more day with my Dad....I swear I'm just that little bit closer to him whilst I'm up the mountain.....
Thus I load the dogs, by bike and my gear up and head up the mountain.....
Happy Father's Day to all as well......
"The quality you deserve is not expensive---it's priceless"
My dad never played sports and didn't teach me anything about sports. He worked hard and long. He had to be way better than average to get a job and hold a job during the Great Depression because he was a certified cripple. He was 4F during WWII. He had polio at age two. He walked, limped and never complained about it.
I never thought of him as disabled because he never thought of himself that way either. I wish I understood then, what I understand now. I owe a lot to him. He taught me to be a man and a man of character.

This entire thread is about inspiration of life. The family member who passed away is the mother of one of my wife's cousin's husband, so no blood relation. Her name is Terri Katz and she was always a presence at family funtions.
The service was actually quite inspirational in itself. The rabbi did a wonderful job of recapping Terri's life as was told to him by family members. Terri's husband, Sid, has been blind for several decades and is just one of the greatest old guys you'd ever want to meet. I pray that Sid keeps his usual good spirits up in light of losing his wife.
I thought today was going to be a bummer, but it really was not. It was, as is this thread, inspirational in paying homage to someone who inspired others all of her life. I'm beginning to understand that sharing in grief as well as in joy is just as uplifting to the soul.

This is such a great way to remember your dad. My dad, who was technically my stepfather but more of a dad then I could ever hope for, was always a healthy, physically abled man who put his body through many trials and tribulations that caught up with him in his later years. Seeing my dad in a wheelchair, unable to do anything for himself was very difficult.
I think my own son is having trouble seeing me getting older and not being able to do the things I could in my youth. It's really amazing how some of us look at our dad's almost as if they were super human.
