I usually give Wikipedia a lot of slack for being mostly factual even though it is left leaning. However, this particular "editorial" your link takes us to is chock full of inuendos, suppossitions and conspiracy theories.

Not to mention how many private companies have been as successful, if not more so, in supporting government coups to have more accomodating leadership installed as heads of governments of countries outside of the U.S. Look up Banana Republics or the copper mining industry histories.

The question we need to ask is; who is behind Obummer to take over the U.S.

Sad but true, the working class Americans have become slaves to organized labor and an elitist, rapidly socializing government. We are trying to break those bonds of oppression and neediness, but alas, still too many Americans have become dependant on allowing others to run their lives.

We do still have very good cancer research and treatment facilities due mostly to health care being mostly a private industry.

Doug, I love you like a brother. I understand that work and your workers and the digi stuff is getting to you, and I'm glad you are a sober guy these days who rides a bike in some of the finest forests on the planet.

I just wish you could follow a train of thought and not just wander like a vent man from idea to idea. American has led and will continue to lead the world in freedom and liberty, exporting ideas like equal protection under the law, the elimination or terrorism by more controlled means than those who engage in terror, and a dozen other areas. We were the first nation to free her slaves. That is an ensign of our leadership. In the case of public welfare, we take some ideas too far, that's true. Right not we are approaching a point where almost half the population gets its money from the government instead of by virtue of working for it. If that point of 50% is passed, it's "Katie, bar the door."

While there are things about our nation that need REAL "hope and change," rather than what we got this time around, this is still the best place for freedom of ideas and beliefs.

It is indeed, "that simple."

From our nation's very founding, we began the process of freeing slaves. At that time, of the countries that still had slaves, we led the vanguard to provide for this freedom. In fact, the phrase, : "life, liberty and property" was changed to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" so that a right to "property" would not be construed as a right to own a slave.

Doug is opining, as nearly as I can tell, that terrorism will continue unless we change our foreign policy. My point is that no other nation has a better policy toward the fomenting of freedom and a dissent against tyranny than the USA.

This idea is that we somehow have brought terrorism on ourselves is a fallacious argument based on several ideas, such as, the terrorists have a moral authority to engage in terror because of a perception they hold based on a (flawed) doctrine, and that this perception is our fault, and that if WE change our policy toward friendly nations such as Israel, that terrorism will somehow vanish from our midst.

Evil will not vanish due a change in foreign policy. It will simply move to become the law of our land. This is already afoot in movements to integrate Sharia into our justice system.

No, Virginia, terrorism is not "our" fault. It is due to evil, and we must move to restrain evil, just like we have always done.
