You don't understand what it's like until you have a kid. They finally took him in 20 minutes ago for hernia surgery, I'm sure everything will be ok, my wife is the one who gets really scared lol.

    Yah Joe, I hear you........
Brenda had to go in for nasty surgery about 2 years ago......it was 3-5 hours and I was to 'stay out of the hospital'.
Soooo, I usually mountain bike on that day but I had a torn up thumb that was operated on.....so I 'walked' the normal bike ride that would have taken me 3-3.5 hours....in under 3! Just a little nervous energy......
    What's your little guy's name....?

mourning Bret & all...yes Doug it's hard not to think of bad things that may happen in our children"s life..my son has served 4 duty's in Iraq and he'll be getting out soon. I'm glad this has come to an end for his service and I know it will be challenging for us all but we're strong and faith and prayers will help. Joe your son is young and he'll heal but this is a part of living and we pray it'll pass soon for you and your family. Stay strong I know you can.

His name is Noah. He is the one in the picture holding the bird a few pages back. I'm glad all went well for Brenda also, it's amazing how your nerves can make you feel and speed you up lol, my wife was shaking when we handed him off, I'm sure for mom things are worse.

He has been in the Army sense out of high school. He'll retire with a medical discharge. His PTSD is pretty bad but being in the Army 15 years has not been fun & games going back & forth, back & forth to fight this war is to say at least it'll be over for him soon. How's the operation going Joe ?

My brother went in 10 years ago for at least 6 years. His attitude is different after war, very short temper with anger at small issues.
We are waiting for him to get out which should be any time now.

The reason why Brenda and I arrange for the sound system for the Cenotaph Service (Remembrance Day 11/11/) every year here in our town is because of the indebtedness, extreme gratitude and respect we have for all those that have served. There are girls now in Afghanistan that are able and allowed to read a 'book' and now get educated because of those that have served and those as well that have paid the supreme sacrifice. I am truly humbled by the selflessness that is shown by those that have given us and those in these other less fortunate countries the privilege to be so egocentric......it's the irony that is now coming to be understood by the younger generation......and that is great....there is hope.
We wonder if a kid on the street with a 'no fear' Nike T-shirt would even fathom what 4 tours in Iraq was like.....

Looks like I missed a lot starting early this morning.

I'm ASS-U-MING that everything came out OK with him.

Thus far, I've been blessed with very healthy kids.

Well I'm back home eating dinner now. The surgery went great no issues, he was kind of crabby after, then started bossing my wife around (must have been the meds lol). Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Thanks Frank, and everyone else, it seemed like a good thread lots of positive thinking and all around good people. That's sad to hear Frank, my best friend lost his dad at a young age and I always felt sad for him and it has to be hard to deal with it, one more reason to love your kids more!
