    Little more detail.

This was caught EARLY, so survivability goes way up.

He's already got a mediport installed and is looking at 2-3 years of treatments.

Maybe you all can offer me some advice...

The wife and I want to do something for them. Not something HUGE, but something HELPFUL.

We've been talking buying them a prepaid card for a gas station because they'll be driving back and forth to Pittsburgh a lot, I'm sure and that's 60 miles each way. We thought maybe something for their other 3 kids so that they don't get lost in the clusterbomb that their lives just became.

We're looking for that thing that you don't realize that you need until you NEED it. Something that just might make this thing go just a little bit easier for them.

    IDEAS?

A babysitter, so when Mom takes him for treatment, the kids are in good hands at home.

I don't have a pic, but Julie's medport looked like a little UFO, so when she had it removed, she had the doc save it, and she had a jeweler put it on a chain that she used to wear around her neck. Now, the kid is not going to wear a necklace, but maybe he would like to have his, when it comes out down the road.

    JP
"Hey Bob" would be a great one to ask he went through it with his nephew as most of us probably remember

A few Ideas from Karen Andy and I from our experiences and what our friends from the cancer community.

A gas card would be good. Helping driving, running errands, taking the kid for the night, driving kids, Meals, but find out what smell food etc.. don't set well. Help organize other. Having someone there. like you said Most of all being there for the long haul.

Do something like you all have done here, You guys might think it's small but it huge. Just know that someone is there.

    sorry JP!!!!!!!

august 22nd my son in law got ran over at work by a 25 tn garbage truck!

ruptured his spleen, bladder, bowels, femar, fibula, tibula and shattersd his pelvis!

insurance or workers comp did not pay because he had some marijuana in his system!

    everything helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gas card is great and my daughter was driving to the hospital 4 times a day and working/running the bar!

since they are almost bankrupt from this, i like to get her gift certificates for nails, hair massage etccc because she would feel guilty paying for those things!

we have cooked them many meals and brought them over.
when she was going to the hospital every day we gave her gas cards, prepaid cards for lunches and also bought them many different easy to pack lunches, snacks and bottled water and drinks to take to the hospital!

i personally like to get them stuff they dont really need!!!!!!!!1 but like!!!!!!

gift certifcate to toys r us, nail salon whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we just got our daughter tickets to LA to see her sister!
she works 7 shifts a week to pay the bills and spends all her time taking care of Noah!!!!!!!!!1

you will have plenty time to give!

    Thanks Frank.......
I live and have such trivial selfish annoyances in my life that I like to call 'problems and stress'.......
I have no problems......only incredibly selfish issues that I wrap my actions around......

JP......we gotta figure out what we can do for this little guy......individually or collectively.....not sure.
This thread is know as an incredibly powerful and unique on-going force.......wouldn't it be neat if it morphed into something bigger, stronger and more measurably constructive.....not sure.....just thinking out loud.....
Going for a ride....to think and relieve myself of some cranial rectumitis.......and tomorrow will also help as we drop our heads and Remember Them...... 11/11/11 is a VERY important day for me......Lest We Forget.....

'Afternoon Bret and everyone. Yardwork galore here but most of the fall stuff has been done and almost ready to get started on a kitchen project. JP, having someone there ready to help is the best thing that can be done, but most of us are all over the continent, so a gas card and babysitter fund would be a great start.

Bret and other Americans that might not know..... The armistice for WW1 was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. In respect of our veterans in Canada we all stop what we are doing tomorrow at 11am, bow our heads in humility and thank those past and present who have sacrificed for our freedom.
