Good afternoon to all my fellow posters. May you have a safe and happy New Year. Heading down to Mexican Town with my wife for an early dinner and a couple of margahrittas.

    I just had a thought.

Soon, we will have "Mexican town" sections just like we have "Chinatowns."

I think that it will be more like "Anglo-town" the way things are going in some localities.

As far as the government.....we lost control from both countries to the oil and pharmaceuticals years ago...

I think if we had given control to oil there would be no environmentalist wacko movement, and if we had given control to pharmaceuticals, we would not have government rationed healthcare. Both these industries would crush these voices if they had any real "control." In truth, they rely on our demanding lifestyle of energy and the sustaining of life for their importance. And we, in turn, need to be wary of how we truss them up, as only we would be the losers as a result. The people who work in those industries could get other professional jobs, and we would be out of the life-furthering warmth, transit, and medical cures we need.

What we need to take back from a perpetual leftist, self-sustaining nanny state are the concepts of freedom and liberty in a representative republic.

The reality is that it isn't corporations that are evil, because they are only legal constructs. No, it is those who want to divest us of freedom and liberty in the name of themselves that we have to watch out for. They are the elites who do not have to live under the insurance they propose for us, or suffer under the costs of cap and tax as we will. Instead, we need to remind them that they work for US. You want me to have forced healthcare? Fine. YOU have to live under the same plan. If not, go pound sand, madame speaker.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things not on my direct control.....the courage to change the things IN my direct control (here's the hard part), and the WISDOM to know the difference.

Like many axiomatic phrases, there is a glint of truth there. However, I have come to believe that this particular gem allows people to too soon draw the conclusion that things are not in their direct control, when in actuality, our representative republic "requires" us to be informed AND engaged to prevent tyranny.

When a representative cares more for the political support of his party than the representation of his constituents, it is time for those constituents to throw him/her out.

I hope that enough of us are sufficiently "wise" that we do just that this coming November.

Happy New years GANG! ot back to being on call today. Had 3 calls. First one was a new mini split that got started up beginning of the week. Supposedly start up went well. However it runs in AC mode constantly. Had 245 volts on the 4way valve coil. unpluged it... still ac... heard no clicking or changing in any way. tapped on the exposed r/v part I could get to.... still no joy. Oh well.... no heat today.
2nd call... HOOTers. 3 rooftop ac/gas furnace package units. by our records 2 were down and they didnt want to repair yet. but they said 2 were operating till one went down. HHHHmmmmmm ok ok they wanted me they got me. As it turns out the last one of the 3 went down. bad hi temp limit switch. Took one from the matching down unit and viloa! up and running. Called the 3 place. HO says its late (5 or 530....) so we are in emer heat and you can come in thew morning!!! YAY ME!
hope you all enjoyed your day off!
