Funny. It was a shot almost like this that cost me the first buck that ever walked in front of me.

I was 12 and he was a little 4 point. My dad saw him coming from a long ways off and told me to get ready. I saw three pop over the ridge, turn and walk down the trail. The buck stopped, turned back and looked straight at me. I had the rifle up, crosshairs on the white patch on his throat and I FROZE. Dad was sitting there whispering shoot him. SHOOT HIM SHOOT HIM! before he finally took off.

That image is burnt into my mind to this day, 25 years later.

Trying to get the whole family into biking. We're in mushroom season right now, so long walks in the woods are the order of the day. If I can get momma on a bike, we all win, but she blames a bike injury for her first knee surgery and isn't exactly excited to get on one again.

Funny how old memories are 'burnt' into the hard drive and never get replaced. I remember Dad showing us how not to screw up the wheat swath and making duck blinds with them and hiding in the dark 'till dawn with his old 16 gauge till the ducks came in. He also showed Ray and I how to make 'wheat gum' that if you found wheat kernels on the ground from the combine you could roll them around in your mouth to get the bran off of them and then they'd make a gum you could chew all day......very, very fond memories of time with Dad.....

Bike 'fit' is important. Seat position for height and set back along with handlebar height will make or brake a rider.......it will also ruin knees or in most cases when done right be therapeutic for them. My right knee is bone on bone after 4 operations from crawlspaces, ladders and kneeling on my heels for days and days working on equipment. The only thing that keeps them from seizing up completely is my riding now.....

They won't let me shoot them until October...

This whole "health" kick that the family is on is working. I've dropped 15 pounds as of weigh-in this morning and I don't know exactly how far she's down, but it IS working.

Change is a medicine best served in small doses.

'Afternoon Bret and everyone. JP - bummer on the food situation, congrats on the weight loss. I'll have to get myself back in shape too as soon as I clear some other stuff I got on the plate. Hopefully I can start next week.

Puzzles made from 4/4 rough cut Bass wood Andy & I ran them thru the planner (S2S) and res sawed on the band saw in to 3 equal section
back on the frame is 1/4" plywood
Andy and a Friend of his did the burning and I cut them into a puzzle with the scroll saw

the blank one you see are for the kids to draw their own puzzle at the event and we cut them on the scroll saw at the booth.
the number of pieces range from 4 to 18

'Morning Bret and everyone. Love the work and it's a great way to get Andy occupied with doing something useful and artistic. You see that and then you see those kids who grew up glued to the TV screens and gaming consoles... Worlds away
