Yep making your own has got to be the most rewarding feeling because #1...it's homemade...#2...it's easy....#3...I don't have to leave the farm to go to the ant pile to buy booze ! Life is grand today. Bret and everyone have a safe and wonderful week-end and those in the cold weather stay warm and those that have rain send some down our way, we sure could use a few drops. Hell I'll take a flood !!!
I'll have to get into that as it's a family tradition. My dad comes from a town where pretty much every house has a still and it's a centuries old tradition. They usually keep it in the 100-120 range and let the aging mellow it out a bit. Sljivovica from those parts is pretty much the only hard liquor I drink (don't drink much) and I bring a few quarts back whenever I visit the old country.

    Morning, All.

Spent the day skiing with the Boy Scouts.

For a first time on the slopes, we both did pretty well.

I didn't eat TOO much snow...

I'm jealous, I didn't get to go skiing this year.... No injuries to report?

The boy and I didn't get hurt.

We had a sprained knee and a couple bruises.

That's not too bad. So the next time you'll be doing moguls and those big jumps on the x games?

    Yep.

Right after I take out a HUGE life insurance policy....

Actually, I'm much more apt to rent a pair of snowshoes and go stomping through the woods, assuming there are trails that don't see so much traffic.

I'm not a big "crowds" person. Give me a quiet trail through the woods and I'm a happy dude.

And now you know why I mountain bike......
Out the door with the two dogs and my trusty steed.....

If you go on the blacks and double diamonds, you wouldn't believe how peaceful it is out there. Most people won't go over on them. I suggest you get a bit better before you try that too!!

Mourning Bret ! Mourning guys...hope y'all had a good week-end. Bret glad you had some quality time with Karen & Andy. I pretty much did squat. I did make some messes in the kitchen experimenting on some recipes and some turned out well. I made homemade ice-cream without having to crank or have an ice-cream maker and it turned out great. Simple and easy that's how I'm going to roll this year.

'Evening Bret and everyone.... Had a bit of an "is it safe?" moment at the dentist's office.. Taking out a stubborn wisdom tooth.. When you see the doc and the assistant sweating bullets, while the mask spattered with your blood is moving as the doc is saying stuff like "I've never had one this difficult" and "I'll need to cut into the bone some more" in a country without free health care, you get a bit concerned.. Fortunately, it went well and I expect to make the wedding on Saturday more or less ok. No drinking though as they have me on amoxi.

I had a great doc in 1977 who did two fully impacted and two partially impacted.

    In his office.

    Valium IV.

    45 mins in the chair.

He was the surgical instructor at the U of P.

We will never see his like under Obamacare, unfortunately.

Wouldn't expect it under a scheme where tax dollars are blown on private insurers. Even in Soviet Russia and Communist Cuba they developed some TOP NOTCH medical professionals. Russian clinics are now where you wanna go to fix anything vision related and they pioneered a good chunk of modern medicine. The Cubans have a top-notch medical establishment, too. The main issues with the US health care involve having your insurer's accountants start telling doctors what to do and malpractice insurance taking up a huge chunk of the operating budget. Then there's the gouging from the pharmaceutical industry. We have that in Canada as well, but it's not as bad.

In Chile.. They have a decent private health care system and the M.I.L. insisted and pulled some strings to get me in with this guy (close to retirement so he only takes care of friends and long-time patients).. That needed to be done anyway and I don't expect that they could have done better in Canada other than putting me under for the procedure and giving me at least T3's for the pain. It's not that bad that I can't get around without a bit of codeine in me and I've had surgery done while on local before.
