    Thanks, Doug.

I have donated a gallon or so since 1995. You aren't allowed to do it when you fly, and I can't have the downtime away from climbing a 28 foot ladder almost daily, and I don't want to have a moment of weakness on the ladder.

She does feel better today, though!

I've donated blood since I was 16 years old.....every 55 days......now I'm older it knocks my energy level (not all the time??) down for the next weekend ride then I feel like a million bucks....in about 4-5 days....
I think everyone that is able to donate, should, it's painless and a great thing to do so others can benefit......there is NO substitute for needed blood....none....what a great gift.....
    Anyways....I'll put my soapbox away....
I need to find out if they'll let me donate still with m

Heck they could give my blood whole to another paiten and save them some money on buying a ton of Meds

    OK get this
I talk to a guy ( who is working on a neighbors. ask him about doing siding and door work repair / replacement (badly needed) I just don't have the psychical strength to do it know , or in the foreseeable future. Guy finds out in HVAC and tell me he has a 2 1/2 yr old HP that "do to the cheap meat used by Lennox the TXV need replaced, due to crape clogging it." he said the guy who did the install see this all the time on unit's he installs.

I ask did he flow N2 when brazing, did he pull flush/purge with N2 and did he pull a vacuum and use a micron gauge. He tells me no the guy cut out the old Indoor and outdoor units and brazed in the new wired them up, hooked up the duct work opened the valves and started it.

I told him how it should be done and why and explained this is why he most likely has callbacks on his installs.

He calls me back to set up a time to walk my house and work up a bid tell's me he called the guy (a buddy) after we talked and the guy told him you only do that on "big commercial units" that Residential units "only need hooked up, because they're already charged".

Guy's like that give us all a bad reputation.

I gave blood for years. Even got my gallon pin. Then I decided to donate platelettes. The technician was a complete idiot! She kept collapsing my veins and just making a mess of both of my arms. With platelette donations, they take blood from one arm, remove the platelettes and return the blood to your body through the other arm.

A week after that debacle, I get a letter from The Red Cross telling me that a test on my blood from giving platelettes "did not test negative" for some rare disease related to AIDS that has only been found in people from some ancient tribe living in tree huts in the remotest part of Africa....or some BS such as that. I did not test positive, just not negative.

This scared the living crap out of me! I took the letter to my family doctor. He looked it over and laughed. I asked him what it meant. He said; "I have no idea what it means, and I've never heard of the disease, but unless you've traveled to Africa lately or have smuggled someone from this tribe into the country to have sex with, I wouldn't worry about it. He did take a blood sample, looked up the information in the letter and told me later there was absolutely nothing in my blood that should cause any concern.

The Red Cross still will not let me donate blood.

I hear ya....Red Cross in Canada put tainted blood back in the system THEN CBS (Canadian Blood Services) was formed by a bunch of bureaucrats and is it a 3 stooges affair....the highest turnout donation areas (my area) they have reduced the times/nurses/beds 'cause we know you'll turn out anyway'!!!!
If one of my daughters or my wife (needed 4 units about two years ago when she almost bled to death) ever died because my ego, timetable or inconvenience was in the way....I'd never forgive myself....
Not giving anyone $hit here.....I am talking to myself and the message is the donation and contribution to society is more than worth the "me-ism" stuff....plus.....I HATE guilt....
