    Gulliver's Travels
Ted Danson stars as Dr. Gulliver in this made-for-TV miniseries that faithfully adapts Jonathan Swift's classic 18th century satirical tale. Gulliver's story is told in flashback after he returns from years of travel to find that another doctor (James Fox) has his eye on his practice -- and on his wife (Mary Steenburgen)! To make matters worse, Gulliver is sent to an insane asylum after sharing his tales of strange and distant lands.

That is a really good version of Gulliver's Travels. I think Danson and Steenburgen were an item at that time...before Danson went Whoopie.

    Hi Bret....

Just from the tone of your posts today you sound like you are feeling a bit better. Don't you just love the good days? Family movie night sounds like a tradition you son will look on fondly down the road and remember what great parents he was blessed with.

Spring is just around the corner so think sunny days and breeze evenings.

    Goodnight and God Bless.

No unions here really unless you are a plumber or electrician. Labour market here is really going to be having trouble in about 5 years or so in the HVAC trade. Theres still a lot of baby boomer journeymen working that have no plans on retiring for another few years despite the fact a lot of them are pushing 70. But then you hear at the school and all that theyre scratching their heads with the industry professionals as to why blocks are shrinking. My pre-employment class had about 18 of us. My best friend who is actually gone to school to challenge his Red Seal right now is in a class of 7, himself included. Not a lot of shops here want apprentices... they just dont have the need or see the need. Which forces guys like myself and others to look for work elsewhere or retrain into something else. As it is, Im hearing through the grapevine that this years graduating trade school class will have a super hard time finding anything. One friend who does markets even told me that one of the guys that went on practicum with his company and was a helper for him after three months in school couldnt tell a compressor from a receiver. Granted it was a hermetic compressor, but on a system that small Ive never seen a receiver with wires and a relay on it.

I was on Facebook the other day and a friend of mine I went to trade school with told me that hes applying for a job as a custodian at an elementary school. Why? Better pay, benefits, pension, union, medical and dental. Of course hes 27 and has a son and I think another might be on the way so its a more sound job for him. But a lot of guys I went to school with are still living at home for the most part.

Really though the story is the same for everything in New Brunswick these days. The kids get old enough to go to post secondary, go to school, then leave this province to make money elsewhere. The birth rate is lower than the death rate here. Then they cry in the papers that theres a labour shortage....for minimum wage jobs at a chocolate factory that borders on to Maine. Maybe if this province didnt basically die after Christmas until April or May there may be more incentive for people to stay. And this really isnt limited to the trades either. Stores lay off after Christmas and everything. You fight for a 15 hour a week job pumping gas at a gas station.

Before I end up writing a paper from my prospective here lol. I just think its the better move all around. Its not a bad place if you have your red seal and want to raise a family or something, but for a young person starting out? Good luck.
    Get money, get paid.
