Really? What happened to the money they got from the chop shops on the reserves?

The social bank accounts gone already. Even before the recession they were saying that with the amount of baby boomers out numbering us Gen Y's that the CPP will be sucked dry by the time Im ready to hang up the gauges. But then we bring whole families over from other countries, give them healthcare as refugees that exceeds that covered by Provincial programs, give them housing allowances and EI or welfare or even pensions because they had to bring Grandma and Grandpa with them.

Then factor in the obesity plague and the increased resulting strain on our health care system when the butterballs hit 40-50ish and voila.

Canada needs to grow a set. But as long as there are left wing parties out there offering "The easy way," nothing will change.

With you and my daughters......there will be a bright future for Canada.....

A little personal story..... I ran into a pair of Dutch couples on the top of Cobble Hill on my Sat. mtn bike ride (were I'm supposed to be right now) and they recognized me as 'that guy with the maps of the mountain' asked me if I would give them my name/phone/addy so they could contact me later to come over and pick up maps. I agreed and the one feisty old broad started fumbling for a pen and paper in her fanny pack. She continued to complain and cuss about all she had was a $2 gift certificate from Tim Hortons to write on. After about 3 minutes of this whining, I said "well at least you have enough to buy a coffee and a donut at Timmy's". She barked back to me that she gave all her investment money to her investment advisor and all she got back was this gift certificate. I balked and said "well you must of got some investment advice and interest too". She barked back at me that she gave in $450,000 to work with and that's all she got....I again reminded her she could at least get the coffee and donut. She then proceeded to dress me down that I had NO idea how hard she worked for that money.....

That was when I snapped.....
I said "Lady you just crossed a line with me. Presently company excluded of course since your up here hiking for you own health, your generation is the most lazy, obese and unhealthy generation yet, you've racked up the highest debt this country has EVER seen from allowing the highest deficit governments while you banked up the most gigantic personal wealth savings accounts that sit stagnated from doing the country any good and then expect me to give you a seniors discount on everything from my business to ferries, hair cuts, taxes and personal purchases of all kinds whilst supplying your state of the art medical every week to pristine roadways while I'm paying off your debt AND educating my kids with your 'educational' legacy of overpaid princess teachers all while working 80-90 hours a week on those same roadways that your plugging up going to your doctor's appointment or bridge club game and then slamming me for speeding to get 'the job/tax done' for you to then spend.........so lady DON"T you %@$^ing tell me how $%!%ing hard you !$^!ing worked......
She was spitting fire out of every orifice by this point and asked me, "yah if that's the case then where are may parents in this....do they come up here hiking too"? I replied no......"why not she barked back". I replied that both my parents died about 10 years earlier than they should have because of wartime service and my Dad was bobbing around the North Atlantic breathing asbestos dust from every shallow depth charge run and as a matter of fact, his army buddy was in Holland on the launch of liberation of Holland as well as my Dad was on a support destroyer in the Channel at that push into Holland........and for 5 years longer...

The old girl calmed RIGHT down and humbly said...." we are very, very grateful for what the Canadians did for us Dutch"......
Once in a while we all need to take inventory and see that when we close down the day with an attitude of gratitude.....did we put MORE into this world today than we TOOK out of it......or there will be noting left for tomorrow....

You know......that gulag thing might be an option......
I was opting just for the rule that "if you didn't pay any taxes (contribute to society) then you don't get to vote" philosophy.....but the gulag thing's looking MUCH more effective.....two fold.....they then are not only FORCED to contribute, but are now an asset to society, rather than a liability.....and sucking the life out of society.....

There was the stick but also the carrot.. The youth went to volunteer work camps in droves - they were a social thing too, like band camp but doing something productive like building roads, condo complexes, dams etc etc etc Today's hipster crowd would run cryin' home to momma on the first compound fracture of the eyelash

Early on here in the US, the people who could vote were the property owners, because (to quote Joe Biden) THEY were the ones who had "skin in the game."

The founders also warned against having a situation where voters could vote to get more money from the government, which is exactly what happened this past November.

Went for a small 10 miles after work.
It is pretty dark and about 18*
I need more clothes!!!
It was hard!
Is it harder to breathe in the cold?
Is it due to the density of the air????

I had a ski mask but does not cover my mouth well!
Sure there is a joke there???

Had gloves this time but need more warmth.
Hands were cold.

I would like to get a jump on spring!!!!
