WHMIS = Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System - the way hazardous goods are labeled, conventions, information given by supplier/employer, yadda yadda yadda Required to have the certificate unless you luck out and get into a union shop, in which case, they pay for your course and for your time taking it
TDG = Transportation of Dangerous Goods - Mostly required because we transport compressed gases on a regular basis and if you get pulled over with a tank in your truck and no TDG, it can be a pretty hefty fine. In order to increase government red tape, if you quit working at Frank's shop and start working at Joe's shop, you have to retake the course. That's why I'm keeping just 1 module out of 10 hanging, so I can complete it when I get hired by, for example, Rick (making up names on the fly lol)
There are others that are also useful in getting into a shop, like Fall Arrest (since you usually get it included in Skyjack rental, it's not so critical) and Confined Spaces, but the other 2 are big deal.

Every text I got from Julie ended with one word.
"Hugs."
So, "hugs" to you and your friend.[Avatar photo from a Florida training accident. Everyone walked away.]

'Morning Bret and everyone. Doug, is this a permanent move? I'm already planning on it for the spring anyway. Union rate over here is pretty decent, realistically comfortable middle class income in a province where very few people can earn it these days. I've known people with Master's degrees, in charge of 15-20 staff, responsible for projects worth tens of millions of dollars (mining industry) earn less than half of the union rate; no pension/bennies.

'Morning Bret and everyone. Doug, I'm years away from a TQ, so I'm worried about surviving in Fort Mcmoney on green apprentice wages. Will e-mail you with a few questions on the topic when I'm done with work.
