TROUBLE SHOOTING T-X-V
What are some ways to tell when the super heat is 8 degrees then 0 on a low temp r-404. Tried to open valve couldn't get it right tried to close valve couldn't get it right. Removed sensing bulb noticed that one of the brass screws had made a hole in it could not get power head off so changed valve problem solved. Thought that there was moisture in system all looked good new filter also

Why do you think that there is moisture in the system?
Because while the compressor was running, the suction line was frosting up quite heavily and then thawing out quite quickly while compressor was still running and suction pressure was higher than it should have been. That was why I thought there was moisture freezing the valve open.

I've never seen moisture freeze a valve open.
Closed, yes, but not open.

Had a call last night at a Pizza supply wholesaler, with 1 - 5 door section out of a 20 door lineup not feeding. pumped system down and found white crystals in TXV strainers( yes water) also found samething in power element . Had to change drier, clean valve, new power element, change drier, vacuum system and charge back up . Also had to heat valve to get ice threw valve. Gotta love it when you get a leak and someone sets LP control in a vaccum for cut out.

Re-read the OP. Did you lose the power element charge? If so, then you have a different problem somewhere else. That will cause a valve to shut down.
If it is a gas defrost type system, watch your check valves.
