What brand makes front air returns for 3 ton handler???

    Hello,

I was getting a system installed in my house. A tempstar 15 seer heat pump. My old handler has a front air return apparently. The A/C constractor said they dont make 3 ton air handlers with front returns for ICP products. Is this true?

My closet is set in a way that it would be very difficult to build it up for a regular handler because of space limitations.

Does anyone know what other brands make 3 ton front return air handlers??

    Thank you all

I might have said it wrong. Excuse my ignorance. What i was saying is that the the air intake for the handler needs to be in front instead of an upflow. And the largest they make them is for 2.5 tons.

    Thanks again

Trane has a front return air handler. Call and get a price from a Trane contrator.

Yes. I took a look and see they only have the front return air handlers in the 3 ton size for R-22 and not variable speed. Just for the OP's info.

They have the variable speed for 410a, I think. And if I were buying a new heat pump system, I wouldn't even consider a R22 system.

Yes they do, just not for the 3 ton size unfortunately, according to Trane's published literature and AHRI database. 4TFE3F25B1 is the model for the variable speed, R410A front return unit, but it's a 2 ton.

They do make a non variable speed, R410A 3 ton front return air handler. 4TFB3F36B1.

I'll attach the info I have on them. If the OP is looking for a 3 ton front return air handler, this may be the one he/she needs to go with. Or the one Carrier makes (FF1ENP036) but that's also not variable speed.

That model is configurable for 1.5 to 3 ton

You are correct, can't go by the "size" in the model number anymore. So for the OP, that would be a good air handler given his requirements.

I'm sure you have experience with these kinds of units with beach condo installs.

Tempstar DOES have a front return model, however, that model series is not compatible with the 15 SEER Heat pumps.
