Basic Question: Heat Pump Stays on and rarely goes off

I am wondering if this is normal. I recently bought a Goodman split unit heat pump and condensor. Whenever it gets below 40 degrees, the heat works fine, but it seems to rarely go off. So it blows for 20 to 40 minutes, then it is off for about 5 minutes, then it blows for another 40 to 50 minutes, then off for another 5 minutes, and so on.

    Is this normal?

I also hear occasional buzzing in my circuit box, so I am wondering if the two are related.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

First thing you should do is call the contractor and ask very same question.Have someone come out and look. Did they put in new tstat with system? A heat pump one? Programmable or mechanical. If programmable was proper setup done for anticipater/cycles per hour? Is it in good location? All questions he/she should be happy to answer for you.

    Long runs are normal.
Buzzing in the panel box should be checked.
    Call your installing contractor.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?
