Lesson #1: don't let the seller put a new furnace in the house you are buying! They will find a cheap furnace & a cheap installer.
New furnace is shorter than the old. They throw down 2 Duragrid pads to raise it. Memo to bosses: $34 in pads vs $2 in sheetmetal transition.
Real problem though was the connection of the furnace to the plenum. It lined up on 3 sides so they just slapped foil tape on. Front though they did nothing, just had the outlet of the furnace even with the plenum. The plenum overhung 5". Why it just started acting up, I don't know, but tonight as soon as the blower came on, air blasting down through the vents at the top of the heat exchanger compartment made the pressure switch trip out. We could get the furnace to run longer with door off.
Using foil tape, we covered the holes on top temporarily and taped up the gap in the plenum. Mr. Pressure Switch now happy. So are the 5' tall dogs they have! We'll get a tinman back to properly fix the problem.
No, it wasn't moonlighter installed, done by established local company.
