T-stat recommendation/help
Newbie question but I need help selecting a new T-stat for a room in one of my buildings.
The factory Mammoth stat is marginal at best. I am looking to upgrade a tad so to speak. The OEM stat has a twist knob that controls the temp and the teacher rolls it all the way one way or all the way the other way and then complains it isnt working properly. I want to make it "like hers at home".
Problem is I am not for sure as to the wiring designation for a "fault light" and night setback feature when looking at new stats.
Wiring designation for the old stat is as:
C----24 volts common
L----Fault Light
G----Fan
Y----Compressor
R-----24 volts power
O-----Reversing Valve
Sy----Aux Dry contact (n.o)
Sc----Aux Dry contact (com)
2-----AUX Dry contact (n.c)
1-----Common for night setback and Emergency shutdown input signal (-)
4-----Unoccupied Input Signal
3-----Night setback/setup
6-----Emergency shutdown input signal (+)
5-----2 hour override
8/7---Dry contact alarm output.
External fan switch (on-off-auto) and temp up and down is about all the external buttons needed.
The dry contact stuff is not used IIRC. Old stat is using 5 wires as the night cutback wiring was pulled to box but never hooked up.
System is a Mammoth Geo with single heat/cool.
Would like to use a Robertshaw or Honeywell if possible.
THANKS for any assistance yall may give!! I'll get this HVAC stuff figured out someday.

No one??
So I have figured out that I need a stat with this wiring config. Fault light is what is killing me now.
C----24 volts common
L----Fault Light
G----Fan
Y----Compressor
R-----24 volts power
O-----Reversing Valve
After researching I think this is a basic heat pump config except for the lack of the fault light.
Thanks everyone!!!Last edited by Binderman; 03-09-2009 at 06:07 PM. Reason: added some info

First of all you're not going to make friends with posts like the above. I for one just read your two posts and I was wondering if you are a DIY which is not allowed per rules - Don't want people hurting themselves or ruining equipment.
It's great you figured part of it out on your own, but get your post count up, apply for pro membership and you'll likely get more responses. Sorry!!?? Guess my emotioncons were not relaying the true emotional state I was in while making those posts. I was in no way trying to take jabs at the board or anyone thats a member here. What forum here do you recommend I get my post count up in before returing here?

Should I have posted BTT for my second reply?
I have 35 plus posts on this board, and IIRC all of them in this forum and up until now everyone has been more than helpful so if I rubbed anyone wrong with the above posts I am truely sorry!!
Big thanks to all that have helped with my problems thus far.

Hey no problem - a guy/gal has just gotta realize every time they post something like what you posted you are asking for 'free' help, so don't get too impatient.
You just keep posting questions when you have them and answers if you have those. That will get you post count up and once you reach say 100 or so apply for pro membership."How it can be considered "Open" is beyond me.
