    Wiring diagram software?

I am looking for a recommendation for a hopefully inexpensive software to create wiring diagrams. Just something to create a basic diagram to put on the control panels of units that I have retrofitted with new controllers.

    Thanks,

    We just use Visio also.
We have develop template for controller that we can just copy and paste or insert into a drawing. Make the drawing for As-builts much faster.
TAC, Distech have AutoCad, Visio, and PDF files that you can download of the there respective controllers, they are prebuilt with all the points needed.

Gimp or inkscape both free and great.

Neither of them (by their websites) seem suited to making wiring diagrams.

You have to import the symbols.
    This site offers many.
    http://www.wpclipart.com/signs_symbol/electrical/
then it is just cut and paste.
    Very easy and quick.

Well, then I'd say Visio is significantly faster because you can make connections and connection points. Then you can move and resize and the "wire" connections stay connected. Worth paying for.

That's funny. You think that Google would have a free Visio clone out by now. It is nice to have those connectors and grid system.

Try a program for FREE called Dia. It probably does what you want with dynamic connectors for FREE.

Got'em both, I guess I was hoping for something with symbols included.

If anybody has some basic symbols they would like to share that would be great

    Thanks,
