Gibson Question
Anyone familiar with this product line. We are Trane and Amana Dealer. Preston guide tells me that GS3BA-030 KA a/c unit is 10 SEER. Is GB3M-030K indoor unit a 10 SEER or could it have been matched with 12 SEER back in the day? I am reccomending replacing the entire system, compressor is bad, but if it is possible to put TXV and remove piston would like to offer option. If this coil was for 10 SEER I will reccomend replacing entire system. We won't install 13 SEER a/c on a coil that is for 10 SEER or less like the weekend warriors do all the time. Thanks for your help.

There is no such thing as a 12 SEER indoor unit. The only way to tell SEER is with a matched system. It could be that that air handler if matched with a certain outdoor unit may have achieved 12 SEER but no way to tell.
Price the whole system so you know it is matched and what it will acheive. Its a good Life!

Sorry bout the semantics
I know there are no 12 SEER indoor units, but there were air handlers that were for matching with 12 SEER od units and 10 SEER od units. On Trane systems that were installed with piston air handlers with 12 SEER condensers a TXV can be installed so that a 13 SEER Condenser can be installed. I am going to sell a matched system, homeowner seemed to understand that that is the right solution.
thanks for your help
