Here is a contactor I ran across a month or so ago. They said the breaker trips??? They did not want to spend to much money.. I took the photo to cover my rear since I touched the unit. ( To check out why it trips the breaker)

I did not repair it. Would cost to much.(But someone tryed to -LOL-)

Is that a terminal block, or a contactor?
What is all of the DUST from?

That is the contactor.. (Directly wired..Not by me.)
The dust is from a sand from the fields near by. This was out in a rual area near farm fields.

    Hmm

    • Looks like a Carrier unit, and the timer appears to be jumped as well.
    • Yuma, did customer decline repairs? Hope you made a note of it on your invoice and had it signed by owner. [b]
    • Something like that can come back to bite U in the butt.

Yes, it was a 3ph Carrier unit. I took photos (digital) to show the state it was in.(To cover my rear) and noted it on the invoice. Cameras are nice toys but at times they are great tools.
They had been using the breaker for some time, then it started to trip on its own. Never figured out if it was the breaker or compressor. They wanted a cheeper price.

Talking Must be good junk, it lasted for more than 40 yrs.

    • Carrier is good equipment, The Carrier Corporation, well that's another story. They have a lot to learn about customer service, in my view.
    • But the commercial equipment is not that bad and except for Trane,it has no rival in the commercial market place.

You can keep anything working if you work on it often enough.

unfourtunatley this is something i've seen way too often. The funniest thing is I was subing service work for a company a couple of years ago which has been in business for over 60 years. the boss asked me to check the RTU he said the A/C had'nt worked in years. when i oppened the unit I saw the same as above. What had happened is they lost heat one night and to get it going it was jumped out by the gas company. This was a residential company and had no service department to speak of so it went for years with no A/C. It took me all of 45 min. to fix.
