    Good BacNet Diagnostic Router

I am looking for a good BacNet diagnostic router. Something to keep in the toolbag that is a step up from the basic contemporary controls pocket router that gots no diagnostics to speak of.

I Have been looking at the KMC BAC-5051e

    http://www.kmccontrols.com/component...lias=bac-5051e

I like that it will tell me if there is a second BBMD or a duplicate MAC on the network.

I dont mind a software based solution that adds brains to a basic MSTP router. Along those lines I been seeing some interesting things here:

    http://www.chipkin.com/products/soft...cnet-explorer/

Looking for first hand input before I drop a couple hundred bucks.

    Thanks in advance!
    Hmmmm....smells like numbatwo to me.

I have used the bac 5051 and love it the most.
It doesn't always but often tells you, there could be a duplicate mac, instance, network..
Shows you what mac devices are out there grabbing the token, and gives info about the error, tx rx times.
Also recently added a feature to be able to snag a mstp network capture.

I preferred using cat6 and a seperate usb power cable, but you can just use a usb cale meant for data and power to communitcate and power it up.

I looked at the site and it seems like a relatively solid European company that has no presence here just yet. and I did not see anything that described the diagnostic features of their router. Do you have any details or a link?

I was having trouble with a device and this is one of the programs I tried. I only tried it once so I can't really comment too much. It looks like you can use a USB dongle and run the same version forever, upgrade the dongle with a newer version, or pay a yearly license fee. I don't like the sound of it.

It looks like the portable went from nuthin to the same diagnostics the better cc routers have, with a nifty graphic showing MACs that are online.
If you look at the 5051e the diagnostics include that and a whole lot more.
But thanks for the update. I did not know they upgrdaded the portable. Nice.

My philosophy is if they must make me beat details on their products out of them before i buy, i dont wanna hafta rely on them for tech support affer i buy.
Besides they will tell me it is great, i would rather have someone who is not commercially motivated tell me what they think.

ACLs look interesting. Can you use both ethernet ports and apply the ACL between the ports. So I have BACnet/IP network coming in one port, filter who is allowed to pass to the other side or is it just from the IP port to the MSTP port?

What manual did this come from?? Frustrating as hell. Looking at the L-INX / L-GATE User Manual 6.2 and the L-INX Configurator User Manual 6.2, neither has squat on the ACL feature.
