Had nearly 18 amps on low voltage furnace r the split second before transformer tripped reset...

    I've found in past experience bypassing or doing things to get people up and running brings a lot liability on yourself and your company. Do what you need to do for diagnostic purposes but don't leave the equipment in any position that could get you in trouble. Too many people want something for nothing and your job is more important than them getting a deal.
