    whole-house water filter

We own a Climate Master Tranquility 27 model TTV064 open-loop geothermal. Our well pump is capable of 20 gallons per minute (gpm). However, we also use a whole-house water filter, which restricts water flow to 10 gpm.

Is it dumb to use a whole-house water filter with a geothermal? If so, are there alternatives? We have sandy, rusty water.
