I really don't get it. Proverbs says,
    Prov 19:22

    That is so true.

Being social media and all, you don't know what is true. You might have "Professional Member" by your screen name but I'm not seeing it.
Obviously the dude has had some techs out already with no luck, intermittent problems are hard to deal with sometimes, the dude is trying to get some guidance. Instead he gets, "You need to find a real tech and not parts changers", then after that, was basically told please go away. When there was no diagnoses by anyone, you get, "We can just throw out diagnoses like the two previous techs. My guess is snakes!" Really?
Tell'em what he needs to tell his tech when he calls him out, help lead the tech in the right direction. Dude be kind, nobody deserves that kind of treatment.
Thought I was brain storming, but it was just a low pressure system.

This forum is designed, hosted, and maintained for the Professionals in the industry...
It is NOT a DIY forum.

    The problem is...
Literally every sad story and scam imaginable; has been typed here, many a time... seeking free DIY information (read long enough in the AOP section... some of the stuff is quite creative... )
    Why...
I suspect because many of the sites that offer DIY information... offer BAD information... and folks are looking for better guidance.

Problem is: We are here to run our businesses... not give away information so a customer can do the work themselves (and we do not get the business).

"TimeBuilder" above, has a link to a contractor referral page at this site...
My advise is to find the link and find a competent contractor.

    Hope this helps...

John, while I totally agree with you here, I just don't like the way some Pro's here thank their God and have to have an attitude when a poster "maybe" doesn't quite understand how this forum works. One problem I see is, the wantabe Mods here, if you're not a mod, you should just report the post and quit acting like a policeman when you're only a security guard.

Rick, great post! and you nailed it! Problem is, some Christians have their own interpretation of the Bible.

Did you read the whole thread Bill...

Note the OP, made a smart-elic comment towards us professionals.

It is great to have a Christian attitude towards folks...
However there is no place in Scripture we are told to allow folks to take advantage of us.

How about lets agree to disagree on this and go on...

John, I think you read a little to much into my post. I wasn't speaking of this particular post, I was personally speaking of most of the home owner's post here in general. And you're correct, there is no place in scripture where we are supposed to be anyone's door mat. But again, lets let the Mod's do their jobs, and just let the security guards report it to the police.

Edit: When some Pro's here act stupid with their attitudes, it reflects on all the pro's. I've seen many remarks here, in reference to all the Pro's in our trade, because some pro had to belittle some Home Owner. If you're a Pro, please don't bring your hate and anger from you own personal life into the forum, it reflects upon all of us.

I'm sorry but I think you're missing the point of what is transpiring here.

AOP exists, as I understand it, to allow homeowners to get feedback from professionals about the work being done by other professionals, and whether or not an alternate company needs to be contacted in order to actually address their issue.

Homeowners posting in the AOP section are not going to receive diagnostics from us, because we are not a do-it-yourself site, and we have no way of determining if the information that would be given would be passed along to a professional to perform the work, or if somewhere three or four years down the road, this thread, being indexed by search engines, would then be used for the purpose of do-it-yourself repairs.

Therefore...being that this is not a DIY site, we cannot offer DIY advice to anyone....even if the poster tells us that it would be implemented by a professional....because of the tens of thousands of other people who can access this information because it is in an open forum.

Do you now have a better understanding of why we are not being mean, but we are simply following the site rules?

....and yes, life requires a little humor as well as blessings.

I don't think Rick was missing anything, I truly believe he knows the rules, I think like me, it's the approach some Pro's use, I've seen better approaches at wrestling matches. The sad thing is, all us Pro's get stereotyped here, after one's bad approach.

OP was advised that "someone" should stop screwing him over by guessing and changing parts that have nothing to do with his issue. That's sound advice any day of the week and twice on Sunday. He took offense to it and mouthed off for reasons that aren't clear, but could easily imply DIY.

Since when does "professional" mean you tolerate cocky, starving pilgrims? Speaking for myself, I'm glad he apparently found another forum or finally changed the right part. And I'm wondering if you might fit in better over at Yahoo Answers.

    Well said...

IMO we need to remember this forum is NOT for consumers to get answers.

AOP exists to help GUIDE consumers TO a professional...
NOT answer questions to fix anything (DOY).

Thank you for your explanation hurtin. I think it shows the signs of the times when someone who's worked in the business for four years feels the need to impart wisdom on someone who's run the business longer than he hasn't.

    Yahoo Answers... That's pretty funny!
