    gas knows no color of handle. if the valve has WOG printed on it, it's viable for use on gases except oxidizers.

    a long time ago there was a rubber rated for fuel gas use. That doesnt appear to be it, but it was very similar.

    If the gas company in my area found this they would lock off the meter until it was fixed properly

    Homeowner, and the gas company let it slide, I on the other hand wasn't about to let it slide, I'm sure the gas company has better lawyers and insurance than I do...
