    Wow, what next. When I looked at it, it seemed so bizarre it didn't register at first. And to think it was running like that for years.

    It might have worked but i am sure the wire was warm to the touch as its undersized for the motor and the wrong kind

    With the exception of the missing bushing and a lack of ground (if needed) I dont see how it's bad. 18 gauge is rated for the load.
