Stuck in the middle of warranty co and service provider
Carrier 16 SEER 25HPA6 unit 3 ton Puron 2010 date on the unit. We just bought this house and owners left us zero information re mechanicals.
2 stage scroll compressor has failed according to tech.
We just bought this house and owners left us zero information re mechanicals.
The home warranty company sent out new compressor but tech says it is not a "communicating" compressor and will cause us trouble. Also, it is a 2.5 ton rather than the 3 ton that failed. Tech says he won't warranty his work if we choose to use the part they sent.
So, just trying to figure out what to request from warranty co and how best to proceed. Any wisdom?

Home Warranty Companys Suck!
Take the buy out and hire a real company.

Save your mind, ditch the warranty company ---It is not a communicating compressor but IS a a @ 2 Stage Compressor...That unit is bullet proof and may not even be a bad compressor

Many home warranty companies are a scam. They aren’t interested in fixing your unit, they are only interested in getting their payments.
You also may or may not be getting the cheapest body they could find to send out to you.

You're in a real predicament here. I suspect that the tech is somewhat correct, though the terminology he used (if you correctly repeated it) is wrong. The contractor they sent out should be contacting the warranty company themselves to resolve the situation.
What the others said about home warranty companies is absolutely correct, They are a scam that is willingly supported by the real estate industry, and they rarely do the right thing. Most legitimate HVAC contractors won't work for them because they don't pay well and push shoddy workmanship upon them. If there's a way you can get out of the contract, you should. I know the repair might cost you more up front but you'll likely save in the long run.
Best of luck!

Given home warranty companies are a scam... and a HO that thought the warranty co was gonna take care of it...
May not have a 'plan B'...
Suggest to look here:

And find a local contractor or two... and invest in a service call to determine a proper course of action to get your AC working.

GA's basic rules of home heating and AC upgrades:
*Installation is more important than the brand of equipment
*The duct system keeps the house comfortable; the equipment only heats and cools (and dehumidifies)
*The value of comfort, over the long term; leave economic choices behind!

Our collective experience and wisdom is this - tell the HW company to refund your money. They are thieves and you will not get satisfactory service from them.
Hire a real contractor instead of a third party scammer.
