Trane running Comm4 and new carrier running bacnet on Open upc

Our commercial controller just sold a job on a roof top that had 3 trane 90 ton DX systems tied to a Jensys 8000 with an easyio-t-io-16 card attached. The owner decided that the last of the three new units would be a carrier and the stupid controller we had sold it. The unit is installed and the com wire has been ran. However now the BAS company is stating we need a new jace 8000 installed to configure the carrier into. I dont understand this because there were 3 units before configured in comm 4 and the new unit is bacnet MSTP. They say all the ports are used up on the jace 8000 and the add on card. How can this be? Why cant we mix the two protocols together on the existing Jace or expansion card. What happened to the ports that were not being used by the trane that was taken out? Can't they be recommitted for the carrier? Any help would be nice. I think the BAS company is trying to make more money off the job than what is needed.

    andrew40,
Ask the Mods to move the thread to the Controls Forum. you should get good responses there.

    Good Luck.

Well... come to find out the owner was having communication problems before we got there. The controls company works for them and basically owns the building. They had wired the controls in a star configuration without using any diodes at the ends. The whole building is on the Jace and extension card in comm4, tranes legacy comm. No one can mix the bacnet and comm4 protocols in the same hardware device with certainty that it will run correctly. My suspicions were confirmed.
