Nope, I sure wouldnt. 4 stories straight down.

But puckerville.... I see SO cord? Or is that weathertite?

But not any grease, so I am guessing not a hood fan... In some jurisdictions they'd have to build a platform with a guard rail.

I didn’t even look at the power wiring to be honest. The place is still pretty new. There’s a restaurant of some type on the first floor.
I was there for an issue with an office heat pump. And thanking the hvac gods that I wasn’t there for that fan.

Lots of room in that parking lot for the required boom lift.

Anyone who designs this type of positioning is just plain stupid!!!!!!

Anyone who installs this and says nothing is just as guilty.

There are two very stupidly designed condenser farms in tiny mechanical areas on the roof. This fan is beyond one of those areas.
Here is a google map view. I was in the upper (north) area.

Here’s a better pic. The mechanical area I was standing in is in the yellow circle. The exhaust fan placement is the red X. The exhaust fan may not yet have been installed in the photo. I don’t see it and the building is still really new.

To get to those mechanical areas in a whole different story. You go up 3 flights of stairs to the top floor. Then pull down a very narrow attic access and crawl up into the attic. Then crawl through the attic and out a 3’ door onto the mechanical deck.
There is one access per mechanical area.

And the tenants are going to complain about the crap equipment because no one can properly service it.

You’ll never carry a compressor up there. And they have Mitsubishi outdoor units blowing into other coils. There’s not even really room to walk between the outdoor units.
We are basically restarting a couple preexisting units because they redid some of the office area for a new tenant.
My startup reports have more red flag notes then a health inspection report from a Chinese restaurant.

Isn't that a flat roof next to the fan? I might do it but I kind of like heights.
I would clear the cars below because those covers can be tight. I send something similar through a skylight once.
I should have played the g'tar on the MTV. MK
