    As it was explained to me by one of my professors, a perfect vacuum is defined as a space devoid of all matter. On earth, a container must exist to surround this volume of vacuum. Even a stout metal container can not keep out neutrinos, dark matter, and many of the other subatomic particles that will whistle right through the container. Scientist speculate that even in the most remote portions of the universe, one will still find a few hydrogen atoms per cubic meter. I have no idea how they came to that conclusion.
