    Confused Kitchen ventilation design - make-up air fan shut down

    Hi,

    I am working on a kitchen exhaust system design. My intent is the following;
    • Fan to start up via a hardwired switch near the range hood
    • make-up air fan to interlock with the exhaust fan
    • make up air fan to shut down using an emergency push button to shut down in fire mode
    • exhaust fan to operate during a fire mode

    I am not an electrical engineer, so I am not exactly aware of how the wiring diagram will look. Could anyone advise if the above strategy is possible and provide some input to the wiring layout.

    Thanks.

    Allowing an exhaust fan to run during a fire. Is not a good thing. As it will cause a surge in air when the fire department tries to enter the building to put the fire out.
