all depends on where you live i guess. things are so expensive around here, 40k is just enough to live, It will get you an apartment, a used car, and some spending cash.

Yeah thats about the salary of a tech with 2 year experience where I live...

Heck 40K wont let you live at the beach here ........ It takes 2 incomes if you have a family to support them! Thats why its feast or famine and you try to feast like heck in the summer. 80 hrs isnt uncommon a week here then. Not typical... just not uncommon.

Anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 here. Depends on what you know and who you work for.

its called an "at will" work place.

you can quit for no reason

they can fire you for no reason

either way, i am sure that the cost of living here is camparable to most big cities.

it's higher here at the beach than it is at the states capitol area, but yet at the coast you still yeild lower income.

the mentality is that you come here to be at the beach, so they don;t pay the deserved wage because they think you want to be at the beach.

Working in central Florida ,residential techs are within the MSN posted pay range.Making 70,000-80,000 per year would not be out of range for a good commercial/industrial tech. Take into consideration that this pay would include some overtime per year, Not 20-30 hours per week. And of course we are not in the northeast pay scales.

OT and spiffs should not be included in a base annual salary. those variables aren't continous.

hourly wage at 40hrs is what the poll is based on, i am sure.

yes it is. But at the beach..... all the emplyers know it being a tourist area... tons of ppl want to relocate. So they can go season to season weeding out those they hire.

2. Yep to many people go get a job... hear surfs up... and never return. So the next one they hire is only going to get the same wage rate (no matter if they are the best employee ever) because of all the slackers before them!

3. Thats soon isnt it? I hit 47 Sunday comming up and I already feel 84 yrs old (physically)
