Question What training does the industry need

I'm getting ready to start building my third training program.

    I've got a couple ideas.

1 is training folks on desiging control systems (creating sequence and control diagrams from plans and specs)

    2) is teaching the fundamental control tech skills for install and point to point check out

What other ideas do you all have, the sky's the limit.

How about designing a wired/wireless network that can be presented to an IT department to explain why it's important for the BAS to reside behind the network firewall, specifications of the network, database type, etc.

    Fernando? Is that you?

I think the new IT for BAS Pro's course I'm creating addresses this. What are your thoughts?

It would be good if you can get across to them the limits of their knowledge. If all trades practice that the jobs are smoother and better.

Check out ITpro.tv as well. They have great courses on networking, using nmap, wireshark, securing windows etc, all apply to BMS these days. Most start off basic enough but dive in pretty deep. Hours and hours of IT related topics and prep courses for various IT certs. If you do think about signing up, look around there are plenty of discount codes out there. Apps for roku, andorid, iphone, as well. Good service IMO.

The only problem I have with them and with Pluralsight is they teach way more info then you need to know and they've never been in the field having to do this in a construction event.

They are not for the total noob. Guys with some experience that want to go to the next level, its pretty good.

Easily have half dozen or more courses that are useful within the BMS field. VMs, Win Sec, Wireshark, nmap, web design, project management, programming in a handful of languages, MS office. Look under technical skills in their catalog, wad of goodies hidden there.

Just buy a month and take in what you want. ~$50 gets you more material than you'll likely have time to consume.
