Anyone in Chicago area looking for help??
I live in the west suburbs of chicago and cant find a job for the life of me. I have sent dozens of resumes called dozens no one is hiring or not enough experience. I have the typical hvac certificate universal cfc card but only about 2 years in the field doing commercial and residential service as well as some installations. I have my union card with pipefitters 597 but doesnt seem to help called the hall but they said I have to come down and fill out a profile to get on the list. Your boat has a lot of passengers.
It's "who" you know, not "what" you know... all I know is I must not know the right people, as I have also sent out dozens of resumes and traveled 100's of miles filling out applications.
At least 597 isn't taking any apprentices.

I believe they are taking apprentices. The pipefitters 597 had 3,000 applicants test for an apprenticeship in January.

i have a metal trades journeyman card or otherwise known asa a C card

I am in the same boat I have over 5 years in and a C card but am out of work I am helping out at a friends shop (non fitter work non union) but only have a few days here and there. I am taking classes to get my B card I hope that will help.
