    MP3 players

    Couple of questions,

1 Anybody use one? Not around customers, obviously, but maybe while doing rooftop maintenance or stuff like that.

2 Who makes a good one. I have a cheapie, but it's starting to fail and I'm thinking about upgrading.

    How are the little ipods?

I got one built into my cell phone I use sometimes on rooftop PM's. I had a cheep one made by RCA that I bought at Alco for $20. After I got my new phone that had one built in I gave it away but it worked great the battery would stay up for a week. ipods are much more expensive sense they have more functions. But just a plain MP3 players are cheep if you go looking around wall mart or radio shack.

I have one of the small ipod shuffles, I wear it when I am punching tubes or some other boring winter maintenance, usually the equipment rooms are so loud you need something in your ear anyway.

I have the Motorola Rokr phone, with built in MP3. Many hours of music on it, and for the most part is a decent player.

On the job I use it while doing things like coil cleaning but I don't like it for PMs or troubleshooting. I think hearing what the HVAC unit sounds like during a PM is a big part of making sure it is running right or not.

I use my Samsung Helix on roofs all the time. Combine mp3 player, xr/sirus radio in the truck or on the roof, and you can record anything you listen to for future listening, it's the best thing ever. I have had mine for 4 years and love it. Her's a link to something newer- http://www.xmradio.com/shop/index.xm...ampaign=XMCOM#

The Samsung Helix is the same thing as the Pioneer. It is by far the best thing I have in my truck.

The best thing is if you here a song on satelite radio, you can just record it. Now it's part of your music collection.
