I got the thing working, it had a loose wire on the thermostat, but neither the Chef or I know how much water to add, the pop off valve burps it out when heated up. I guess it could be weak, but I don't have a book on it and the slugs at Groen won't return my phone calls.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for responding, how much water should we put in, low on the sight glass? I understand the gage should read in a vacuum if properly balanced.
We are using distilled water (We being the Chef and I, the serviceman.)
Those slugs still haven't got back to me from Groen.

Along with the distilled water you should use a rust inhibiter, Groen and Cleveland does not sell this rust inhibiter; you can use a product called Borex; they sell this in Home Depot.
As far as the amount of distilled, if it is a 80qt kettle then 8.5 gallons, 60qt then 6.0 to 6.5 gallons. If you need a PDF on the kettle get me the model.

you mentioned about a sightglass on this unit. Water only halfway up the sightglass. Don't add more rust inhibitor unless you lose almost all the water. To put the system in a vacuum heat it up for 5-10 minutes and then momentarily release the pressure relief valve. DO NOT release the valve when cold or you will lose the vacuum.
