Bacon grease gravy
Here's how I do it.
Fry a pound of bacon in a 10 inch pan , make sure you leave some crumbs in the pan.
Leave the grease and bits in , take the bacon out.
turn up the heat and add enough flour to get the grease a little thicker and bubbly.
Let it thicken and brown while stirriing it along the bottom.
When it gets real brown and bubbly add milk to about 2/3rds the way up the pan.
Add whatever seasonings you want.
Turn the burner back down a little , keep stirring until it looks like gravy.
Let sit for a minute to thicken a little more , and serve.
How do you do it ?
sounds like a recipe for a heart attack. but i do the same thing for german potato salad. i allways use good thin cut bacon. i found that the thicker the bacon the more it tastes like ham.
Dead man walkin.........................
I think I'll try it too..........
I never throw the bacon grease out. Just put it in a bowl on the counter or in the fridge.
Use it like butter on green beans, carrots etc. On egg noodles and rice. Most anything. Good flavor and no waste.
And since you are useing it slowly over time there is no instant heart attacks. You just die slowly.
i knew a crazy old man who used to take any kind of grease and slather it on a piece of bread fold it over and eat it. and he almost allways had one in his shirt pocket. he has since passed away ( not real surprised). man he was one crazy son of a b!@ch.

Braid a pound of bacon in a 12" cast skillet and cook in oven @ 400* till almost crispy, pull out and drain off the liquid and then add your favorite cheese and jalapenos, roll up and cook till cheese is good and melted. Pull out and slice into individual servings.

Man I love fried rice the best kind IS made from leftovers.
That bacon thing does sound like a dead man walking though.
Personally I like to microwave bacon in a paper towel to collect the oil.
They say it's bad but I'm talkin maybe once every month or two, I have many relatives that have ate like that their entire lives and are living well into their seventies and eighties. It beats the hell out of laying in a hospital bed dying of nothing.
Here's my share:
Egg, onion & bacon omelette.
Pan fry bacon strips until crispy. take them out for the pan and cut them into bite size(1 inches). Slice and chop some onion, and fry them in the pan, then mix about 4 eggs up in a bowl, add in some salt and black pepper in the egg mixture, fry the onion till brown then pour in the egg mixture and the bacon strips into the pan and fry for about 1 mins then serve.
