Surfs up!
Went to this house yesterday and snapped some pics of a Aqua Therm unit that froze in the attic and poped the cover off the pump. Not sure how long it ran like this as the house is on the market. Upstairs duct full of water and the Downstairs System full of water. What a mess.

You'll see a lot of these as forclosures pile-up in ocld weather regions. Banks with properties in cold weather climates need to contract out someone to go around and check on these properties to makes sure they have minimal heat.
Hmmm... there's a business, set-up some simple remote alert system if the temp falls below 50F an text messge or phone recording is generated with the address and alert. The local HVAC company can be dispatched and given the lock box combination.

Back 1994 when I was still doing residential service worked on a FHA foreclosure house getting the heat back on.
When the house was seized who ever closed it down cut all of the water lines in the basement at their lowest points and made sure there was no water in them.
I have never seen anything like it before or since.Waddya mean don't thaw out the frig with a knive?

My house was a foreclosure. The previous occupant kicked or punched a hole in each wall, cut the phone lines in numerous places, and cut the ground wires to most of the outlets. Nothing major.
